About Me

“We have to make the present moment into the most wonderful moment of our life. Our breath is the bridge that unites body and mind.”—Thich Nhat Hanh

My name is Tuyen Huynh. I was born in Vietnam but was raised in Philadelphia, PA. I have a BA in Sociology from Penn State University and a MS in Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

My research is a reflection of my true passion for implementing contemplative practices such as mindfulness, particularly, self-compassion and mindful parenting into parenting programs. I believe such intrapersonal reflective practices can enhance one’s well-being and interpersonal relationships such as parent-child.

Besides research, I am an avid knitter and gardener. I love having new hobbies. Recently, I picked up watercoloring and lettering. I absolutely love traveling and spending time with my husband, Jeff and our sweet tuxedo cat, Oreo.
